The security of your information
When details such as your name and email address are submitted via a contact form or email, this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, we make our best effort to ensure its security.
Your data
- The data you supply us with on the booking form is used to help us process your holiday booking. We need to know who is the party leader and who else is in your party, the age of any children travelling with you, how long you are staying, your names and addresses, your contact details, and any special needs or requests that will help us to help you have a successful holiday. We may also need your passport or ID number. We need to know how you will make payments to us, and how to return any damage deposit to you after your stay. And we ask you how you are getting here so that we can give you the most appropriate directions.
- If you are booking online via our own www.watermouth-cove-cottages.co.uk , we collect and store your details. We also keep an overview of our bookings in a manual file in our office which is only accessed by ourselves.
- Your data is used solely for the booking contract between the party leader and ourselves. We would only share it when we are legally required to do so by the UK authorities. This has never happened to us yet, but you never know. For instance there is a legal requirement for accommodation providers to supply on demand from the police certain information about their guests – contact details etc.
Marketing information
We really don’t inundate our guests with constant communications –however much we’d like to keep in touch more! But we might want to send you a Christmas or New Year card, or let you know of any special offers for previous guests, or any other relevant information. So there is a box to tick to say you are happy to receive such “marketing” messages. As far as we are concerned “marketing” just means keeping in touch with friends we have made during their stay here, or with others who are interested, so we really won’t be force feeding you with stuff if you decide to tick the box, but we will keep your name on a mailing list. You can opt out at any time, and, apart from all that, you can also choose to follow us on the Facebook page.
Payment security
We provide an online service that allows you to pay for your booking using your credit card details or debit card details. We do not store or process credit card details or debit card details on any of our systems; instead we use worldpay, which is a secure online payment gateway to process credit card payments and debit card payments on our behalf.
Breach notification
If we hold records of your personal data and we become aware of a data breach, we will endeavour to inform you of this within 72 hours.
Users under 18 years of age
Any user under 18 years of age must have their parents’/guardians’ consent to use our website. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.
Cookies
And then there are things which our web designer Liam knows far more about than us, but which we need to include here. For instance a cookie is a small file sent to your computer’s hard drive by a web page that you visit. Cookies allow web applications to recognise your device (not you personally) as you move from one page on the site to another, or if you revisit the site within a certain period of time. A cookie in no way gives us access to other files on your computer or to any other of your device’s functions.
We may use traffic log cookies to compile statistics about the popularity of pages on our site and about how people have arrived here. This helps us improve our website. We would only use this information for statistical purposes.
These little working s of websites just go on behind the scenes whether we like them or not. If you don’t like any of this internet stuff, but still want to book, then use the old fashioned way and write us a letter or give us a ring.
